Registered Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

Medivet Lawley is seeking a part-time Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a kind and caring team delivering comprehensive small animal veterinary care. The part time salary will start from £24,400 per year. You'll work at least 32 hours per week (3 days), with a manageable 1:6 weekend rota at Medivet Shrewsbury 24-Hour Hospital, plus one bank holiday and one week of on-call cover annually. The practice is well-equipped with nurse clinics, dental facilities, in-house laboratory, orthopaedic theatre, ultrasound, and X-ray—so you'll have real scope to develop your nursing skills. You'll be supported by an Operational Support Manager, Lead Vet, Head RVN, and an experienced veterinary and nursing team who genuinely care about their colleagues' experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional patient and client care across surgical support, nurse-led appointments, and health monitoring
• Support all surgical and procedural activity, including pre- and post-operative care
• Conduct nurse-led consultations and schedule three activities independently
• Manage patient admissions, discharges, and transfers to out-of-hours or enhanced care facilities
• Dispense and check medication in accordance with practice protocols
• Lead team briefings to coordinate colleagues and ensure smooth practice operations
• Uphold all regulatory, practice, and operational standards consistently

Requirements

• RCVS registered Veterinary Nurse
• Proven experience delivering exceptional patient and client care
• Strong ability to work effectively within a team environment
• Experience supporting nurse consultations and understanding their contribution to practice efficiency
• Demonstrated coaching and influencing skills to bring out the best in colleagues
