About the Role

This full-time veterinary surgeon position is based at the Lewisham clinic, where you’ll take on a balanced mix of clinical practice and team leadership. You’ll be part of a small, collaborative team committed to delivering exceptional patient and client care across consultations, procedures, and admissions. The role includes mentoring and coaching responsibilities, sharing clinical best practice across the wider Medivet network and supporting the professional development of graduates and team members.

You’ll work in an established practice setting where small teams need to work effectively together—meaning genuine teamwork is core to how the clinic operates. The position combines hands-on clinical work with opportunities to demonstrate leadership through clinical meetings, colleague development, and promoting a progressive clinical culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver clinical consultations and procedures, with accountability for patient care and monitoring throughout
  • Manage patient admissions and discharges (depending on complexity) and ensure accurate, up-to-date clinical records
  • Prescribe medication and perform dispensing checks in line with regulatory standards
  • Provide clients with timely updates on patient care and outcomes following procedures
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates and manage financial aspects of clinical work
  • Support and mentor graduate veterinary surgeons and junior team members on clinical competence and best practice
  • Hold engaging clinical meetings with the veterinary and nursing teams
  • Ensure compliance with RCVS regulatory standards, health and safety requirements, and practice operational procedures
  • Escalate clinical or practice issues appropriately to the Practice Manager

Requirements

  • RCVS registered veterinary surgeon
  • Demonstrable clinical leadership skills and experience delivering exceptional clinical care
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a small, integrated team
  • Experience using coaching and influencing skills to support colleague development
  • Understanding of how nurse-led consultations contribute to clinic efficiency and quality of care
  • Ability to implement a progressive, standards-driven clinical culture
