Shared OOH
Four-day weeks, genuine support, and a chance to develop ultrasound skills in a well-equipped South London practice. This isn't sole charge chaos – you'll be part of a three-vet team with theatre facilities, in-house lab, and a Practice Manager who's got the admin covered.

🕐 Schedule & Rota

1:6 weekend rota covering Medivet Camberwell 24-Hour

About the Role

Please note this is a fixed term contract.

Join Medivet New Cross, an impressive small animal practice in South London with a genuinely collaborative team dynamic. This is a four-day week position with a manageable 1:6 weekend rota covering Medivet Camberwell’s 24-hour service, making it ideal for someone seeking real work-life balance without sacrificing clinical opportunity. The practice sits just a stone’s throw from Central London and benefits from excellent transport links via London Overground, Thameslink, and Southern Rail.

If you have an interest in or experience with ultrasound, this role offers the chance to develop those skills further. You’ll join three vets (including the Lead Vet, David, who specialises in exotics and is working towards a surgery certificate), supported by a dedicated nursing team and front-of-house staff. With a Practice Manager handling the business side, you can focus entirely on what you love – clinical care.

About the Practice

The practice occupies three spacious floors and is finished to a high standard. Facilities include digital radiography, in-house laboratory, ultrasound equipment, three consultation rooms, two operating theatres with prep room, and a comfortable staff room for breaks. The team prioritises both client care and colleague wellbeing, creating an environment where clinical excellence and supportive teamwork go hand in hand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional clinical care during consultations and surgical procedures to the highest standards of regulatory and practice compliance
  • Develop tailored, evidence-based treatment plans with clients
  • Work collaboratively within the three-vet team and broader nursing support structure
  • Contribute to professional development across Medivet’s clinical communities
  • Maintain patient and practice standards while supporting team colleagues

Requirements

  • Qualified MRCVS (Registered Veterinary Surgeon)
  • Passion for clinical excellence and genuine client care
  • Team-focused approach with proven ability to work collaboratively
  • Interest in small animal practice (ultrasound experience/interest a plus)

Benefits

  • Salary: Up to £55,000 per year
  • Health & Wellbeing: Private Medical Insurance and Health Cash Plan from day one, 24/7 counselling and wellbeing support, life assurance at 3x salary
  • Annual Leave: 5 weeks plus bank holidays (rising with service), plus one extra paid ‘Day for You’
  • Learning & Development: £1,500 annual CPD allowance plus 3 paid days per year for training, access to Medivet’s clinical communities and internal CPD resources, funded certificate courses and internal career pathways
  • Professional Support: RCVS, VDS, and BVA fees paid in full
  • Relocation & Visa: Relocation support and visa sponsorship available
  • Additional Perks: Cycle to Work scheme, Season Ticket loans, discounts on Medivet products and services, sabbatical options based on length of service
