Veterinary Care Assistant

About the Role

As a Veterinary Care Assistant, you’ll be the backbone of the clinical team at this busy Hendon practice. You’ll support nurses and vets with in-patient care, surgical procedures, and day-to-day pet welfare—delivering the kind of hands-on animal care that makes the difference. This full-time position offers excellent exposure to clinical work in a supportive environment where learning is encouraged and your contribution genuinely matters.

Based in north London, you’ll be part of a team that values collaboration and recognises that exceptional patient care starts with a well-supported team behind the scenes. Whether you’re walking patients, assisting in theatre, or monitoring post-operative recovery, you’ll work alongside experienced nurses and vets who’ll help you develop your skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional care during consultations, surgeries and procedures, maintaining full compliance with practice and regulatory standards
• Monitor and care for in-patients, including walking, toileting, feeding, and general welfare checks
• Support surgical and clinical procedures under the direction of qualified vets and nurses
• Work collaboratively within the clinical team, communicating effectively to ensure continuity of care
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised clinical environment

Requirements

• Must be 18 years or over (health and safety requirement for this role)
• Genuine passion for animal care and client service
• Ability to work calmly under pressure and prioritise multiple tasks
• Team player with flexibility and willingness to learn
• Strong communication skills with clients and colleagues
