About the Role

This is a full-time permanent position based at the Medivet Ashby practice, working 40 hours per week including some weekend and bank holiday shifts. You’ll be the first point of contact for clients and their pets, managing the reception desk with professionalism and warmth whilst supporting the wider veterinary team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet clients on arrival, manage their check-in, and maintain accurate client and patient records
  • Answer client telephone calls promptly and manage written messages professionally
  • Triage emergency appointment requests by liaising with clients and rearranging appointments as needed to prioritize clinical needs
  • Manage the practice appointment diary, optimizing availability to match the team’s clinical skillset
  • Ensure online appointment booking slots remain available for clients to reserve at their convenience
  • Process repeat prescription requests and support clients with product and service information
  • Work collaboratively with the veterinary and support team to maintain a welcoming, efficient practice environment

Requirements

  • Excellent reception and client-facing communication skills with a friendly, professional manner
  • Proven ability to stay calm and organized under pressure whilst managing multiple tasks
  • Strong numeracy skills and hands-on experience with online appointment booking systems
  • Good organizational and prioritization abilities with flexibility and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment
  • Previous veterinary receptionist experience is desirable but not essential
