Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This Veterinary Surgeon role is based in Leicester with Medivet, and focuses on delivering exceptional care for clients, patients and colleagues within the clinic. The position includes responsibility for patient care, consultations, procedures and supporting the wider clinical team.

The role also includes a weekend rota of 1:6 and bank holiday cover. There is regular involvement in clinical leadership, mentoring graduates, supporting nurse consults and helping to maintain the clinic's regulatory, operational and commercial standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out consultations and procedures within the clinic
• Take responsibility for patient care and monitoring
• Manage admissions, discharges and clinical handovers, including transfer arrangements for patients needing OOH or enhanced care
• Keep patient records accurate and up to date
• Prescribe medication and complete dispensing checks
• Support client communication, including updates after procedures and handling complaints or concerns
• Prepare estimates and costs, and support payment collection and debt reduction
• Promote regulatory, practice and operational standards, including health and safety compliance
• Support colleague mentoring and share clinical best practice across clinics
• Escalate issues to the Practice Manager when needed

Requirements

• You must be an RCVS registered vet surgeon
• You should be able to demonstrate clinical leadership skills
• You should be able to work well as part of a team
• You should have experience delivering exceptional clinical care to clients and patients
• You should support nurse consults and understand their role in clinic performance
• You should be comfortable using coaching and influencing skills
• You should be able to support a weekend rota of 1:6 and bank holiday cover
