About the Role
This Veterinary Surgeon role is based at Medivet Swanland 24-Hour in rural, affluent East Yorkshire, surrounded by beautiful countryside. It is a strong opportunity for a vet who enjoys surgical work and wants to take the lead on non-routine cases.
You will work 40 hours over 4 days, with a 1 in 6 weekends rota. The hospital provides 24-hour hospitalisation, separate dog, cat, exotic and isolation wards, plus a wide range of advanced diagnostic and surgical facilities.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable handling complex surgery and contributing to a well-established hospital environment. You will also be part of a wider Medivet community where clinical collaboration and best practice are actively shared.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead on surgical cases, including non-routine procedures.
- Deliver exceptional clinical care during consultations and procedures.
- Provide clear, professional updates to clients about patient care.
- Create accurate treatment and care plans with clear cost estimates.
- Support handover and arrange transfer of patients needing out of hours or enhanced care.
- Mentor and develop colleagues, including support for nurse consults and Schedule 3 procedures.
- Share clinical best practice within the practice and across the wider Medivet community.
Requirements
- RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon.
- Experience delivering high-quality care to patients and clients.
- Experience working effectively as part of a team.
- Clinical leadership skills.
- Experience of supporting nurse consults and Schedule 3 procedures.
- Coaching and influencing skills to bring out the best in colleagues.
- Ability to work confidently with non-routine surgery.

About the Practice
Medivet Swanland 24-Hour is a well-established hospital in a rural part of East Yorkshire. The practice has 24-hour hospitalisation and separate dog, cat, exotic and isolation wards.
It also offers three operating theatres, updated surgical facilities and equipment, an in-house lab, advanced imaging including ultrasound, doppler, digital x-ray, digital endoscopes, rhinoscopy, arthroscopy and a CT suite, plus ECG, hydrotherapy, an underwater treadmill and laser therapy.
