About the Role
This is a full-time Registered Veterinary Nurse position based at a charming, thatched-cottage practice nestled in the heart of the New Forest. You'll enjoy genuine flexibility—choose between a compressed 4-day week or standard 5-day working pattern to suit your lifestyle. The role includes a manageable 1-in-5 Saturday rota (8:30am–12:30pm only), with occasional support needed at the sister branch in Totton.
You'll work across a range of clinical nursing duties that keep every day interesting: running nurse clinics, delivering exceptional inpatient care, assisting with laboratory and diagnostic imaging work, monitoring anaesthesia during surgery, placing IV catheters, and triaging emergency cases. This is hands-on, varied nursing in a practice that's been part of the community for over 35 years.
Key Responsibilities
- Run nurse-led clinics and provide direct patient care
- Support inpatient management and nursing care
- Assist with laboratory work and diagnostic imaging procedures
- Monitor anaesthesia during surgical procedures
- Place intravenous catheters and manage emergency triage
- Contribute to the smooth daily running of the practice across two sites
- Work collaboratively with a team of 4 full-time vets, 2 regular locums, 6 registered veterinary nurses, 1 student nurse, and 5 receptionists
Requirements
- Current RCVS registration as a Registered Veterinary Nurse
- Confidence working both independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Strong relationship-building skills with clients and colleagues
- Proactive and compassionate approach to patient care
- Flexibility to support across two practice locations

About the Practice
Midforest Vets is a friendly practice with two locations: a charming base in Lyndhurst (serving the New Forest for over 35 years) and a branch in Totton. The practice provides companion animal veterinary care including dogs, cats, rabbits, and small pets, with modern facilities and a caring, professional team. Several vets have developed special interests through extensive CPD in dermatology, dentistry, and radiography, with one currently undertaking a Dental Certificate.
