About the Role
This is your chance to work in a genuine mixed animal practice that's stayed proudly independent for 35 years. Located on the edge of Charnwood Forest near Anstey, MM Leggett Veterinary Surgery blends traditional values with modern facilities, treating everything from dairy herds and sheep to family pets and the occasional horse. You'll be joining a close-knit team of just one other vet, four experienced RVNs, and two receptionists—everyone knows each other, and the culture is collaborative rather than hierarchical.
The practice takes sustainable farming seriously; herd health planning and regular farmer meetings with external speakers form a core part of the workload. You'll handle varied, interesting large animal cases (the practice provides dedicated OOH large animal cover) while small animal emergencies are managed by an external service, keeping your nights and weekends genuinely protected. Full-time or part-time hours are both considered, with a relaxed 1:3 weekend rota covering Saturday morning surgeries and large animal on-call only.
This role suits vets who want breadth across species, a practice that values quality over growth, and colleagues who actually support each other. If you've been burning out in corporate chains or struggling as a sole charge vet, this community-focused independent practice could be exactly what you're looking for.

About the Practice
MM Leggett's Veterinary Surgery is an independent, RCVS-accredited mixed practice established 35 years ago. The team comprises one other vet, four dedicated RVNs, and two receptionists—small enough to feel personal, large enough to share the workload fairly. The practice combines traditional values with modern facilities and is conveniently located in Anstey (Leicestershire), serving a loyal mix of farm clients, equine owners, and small animal families across the Charnwood Forest area.
Sustainability and evidence-based herd health are central to the practice philosophy. Rather than chasing growth, MM Leggett focuses on delivering excellent care and maintaining genuine relationships with farmers and pet owners alike. The team holds regular farmer meetings with external speakers to stay current and support agricultural best practice.
