🕐 Schedule & Rota

Dedicated ECC night role with split shifts: 4:30 pm–12:30 am or 10:30 pm–9:30 am. 20 hours per week across the 9-month contract.

About the Role

Join New Priory Vets’ Emergency & Critical Care team on a part-time basis (20 hours per week) for this 9-month fixed-term contract. This role offers a refreshingly sustainable approach to ECC work: you’ll work split shifts—either 4:30 pm to 12:30 am or 10:30 pm to 9:30 am—meaning you can pursue your passion for emergency medicine without the burnout that often comes with traditional overnight rotations.

Brighton offers the perfect blend of vibrant city living with easy access to the South Downs National Park, London, and international airports. You’ll be joining an RCVS-accredited Hospital Standard practice with a thriving first-opinion, out-of-hours, and referral service—meaning diverse, interesting cases across the week.

  • Use state-of-the-art equipment including on-site CT, laparoscopy, and extensive point-of-care diagnostics
  • Participate in regular team and mortality & morbidity meetings to maintain clinical governance

Requirements

  • Veterinary degree and RCVS registration
  • Experience in emergency and critical care, or genuine enthusiasm to develop in this specialty
  • Strong communication skills and commitment to clinical excellence
  • Team-focused approach with dedication to evidence-based medicine
  • Willingness to train and upskill with specialist support

Benefits

  • Work-Life Balance: 6.6 weeks annual leave (pro rata), enhanced family-friendly policies including maternity/paternity/adoption/shared parental and surrogacy pay, birthday leave, and Private Medical Insurance
  • Professional Development: £1,500 annual CPD allowance (pro rata), funding for certificates and further study, access to IVC Evidensia Academy, Vetlexicon online resource, research funding opportunities, and £1,250 per annum via the Care Fund
  • Professional Support: BVA membership paid, VDS cover, Infection Prevention and Control Programme, Quality Improvement Programme
  • Additional Perks: Discounted veterinary fees, retail and gym membership discounts, cycle to work scheme via Pawsome, service-related company sick pay, sponsorship for overseas employees, and private pension scheme
