Assistant Charity Shop Manager

About the Role

This is a part-time, permanent Assistant Charity Shop Manager role in PDSA's Scarborough shop, working 28 hours per week at £13.61 per hour. It is a hands-on retail position where you'll support the Shop Manager, work closely with volunteers and help keep the store welcoming, well-presented and profitable.

The role combines customer service, stock rotation, community engagement and day-to-day shop support. You'll also help raise awareness of PDSA locally, encourage donations and use sales, financial and competitor data to spot opportunities for improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Shop Manager with the day-to-day running of the Scarborough PDSA shop.
• Work with volunteers to create a welcoming and well-presented retail environment.
• Help maximise profit through effective retail operations and strong customer service.
• Maintain efficient stock rotation and support clear brand messaging.
• Use financial and competitor data to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Represent PDSA in the local community and help encourage item and cash donations.

Requirements

• Experience from the retail sector.
• A proven track record of contributing to sales targets.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a customer-focused approach.
• Organised, approachable and proactive.
• Confidence coaching and motivating volunteers.
• An enthusiastic attitude toward PDSA's work and charity mission.
