About the Role
You'll be the first point of contact for pets and owners who truly need support, delivering excellent customer service from the moment they walk through the door or call. This part-time temporary role works 24.5 hours per week across a varied shift pattern, including weekdays, weekends and bank holidays as part of the team rota.
Working in a busy veterinary reception, you'll process clients, handle telephone enquiries, encourage appropriate financial contributions, and maintain accurate paperwork and records. The role demands organisation, reliability and the ability to stay calm under pressure while responding flexibly to changing demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Be the first point of contact for clients and their pets, delivering sympathetic and courteous customer service
- Process clients attending the hospital and manage telephone enquiries
- Encourage appropriate financial contributions from clients
- Maintain accurate PDSA paperwork and records using computerised systems
- Work on a busy reception desk, prioritising your workload in a fast-paced environment
- Support the team with flexibility across varied shift patterns including weekends and bank holidays
Requirements
- Good communication skills and an excellent telephone manner
- Ability to work calmly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Organised, reliable and able to prioritise tasks
- Professional and caring approach to supporting vulnerable clients
- Previous office or reception experience, including word processing and computerised record systems, is an advantage but not essential
- Keen to learn and happy to work as part of a supportive team
- Flexible approach to shift patterns including weekends and bank holidays
