About the Role
PDSA Gillingham is looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a collaborative, purpose-led team dedicated to providing veterinary care for pets of people in financial hardship. This is a full-time permanent position working 37.5 hours per week. You'll be at the heart of a modern, well-equipped hospital where every day brings varied cases and the opportunity to make a tangible difference in both animal and human lives.
You'll work across the full spectrum of nursing duties: conducting nurse consultations, managing inpatient care, dispensing medications, and assisting in theatre including Schedule 3 surgery. The pace is fast but rewarding, and the hospital culture genuinely prioritises your wellbeing alongside delivering outstanding care.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-standard nursing care across inpatient wards, consultations, and surgical support
- Assist in theatre procedures including Schedule 3 surgical work
- Manage medication dispensing and stock control
- Communicate confidently with colleagues and clients, keeping owners informed and pets calm
- Champion the charity's mission and encourage client contributions where appropriate
- Suggest improvements and efficiencies in practice operations
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment focused on case discussion and shared learning
Requirements
- Current RCVS registration as a Registered Veterinary Nurse
- Ability to adapt to a wide variety of cases in a busy hospital setting
- Confident communication skills with diverse colleagues and clients
- Willingness to support and mentor others, leading by example
- Genuine passion for animal welfare and the charity sector
