About the Role
This is a full-time permanent role working 40 hours per week at PDSA Margate, a charity-led small animal hospital. You'll be part of a highly collaborative team dedicated to providing veterinary care for pets whose owners face financial hardship. The work is fast-paced and varied; no two days are ever quite the same, and you'll gain exposure to a wide range of clinical cases and procedures.
You'll play a key role across the hospital, from nurse consultations and inpatient care to dispensing medications and assisting in theatre, including Schedule 3 surgery. Your passion for animal welfare and your ability to keep pets calm while keeping owners informed will be central to delivering the high standards of nursing care PDSA is known for.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct nurse consultations and provide inpatient care for small animals
- Dispense medications and maintain pharmacy standards
- Assist in surgical theatre, including orthopaedic and Schedule 3 procedures
- Deliver high-quality nursing care whilst keeping pets calm and clients informed
- Champion the charity's mission and promote client contributions where appropriate
- Work collaboratively with the team to maintain smooth hospital operations
- Suggest improvements and efficiencies in resource use and clinical practice
- Engage in case discussion and shared learning with colleagues
Requirements
- Current RCVS registration as a Registered Veterinary Nurse
- Confidence communicating with colleagues and clients from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to adapt to a wide variety of cases and clinical scenarios
- Strong commitment to animal welfare and the charity's mission
- Pride in delivering high standards of nursing care
- Ability to work effectively as part of a close-knit team
