Support a purpose-led veterinary team in Southampton, with a role that can suit full-time or part-time hours and a clear focus on helping pets and owners who need care the most.
This Veterinary Care Assistant role is based at PDSA's Southampton hospital and offers the chance to support a busy team delivering vital care for pets and people in financial hardship. The work is practical, varied and purpose-led, with a strong focus on customer service, animal wellbeing and supporting the wider clinical team.
You will help keep the hospital running smoothly across day-to-day care, from maintaining a clean and safe environment to assisting with animal handling, reception cover and hands-on support for Veterinary Nurses and Veterinary Surgeons. The role includes discussing appropriate financial contributions with clients in an empathetic and professional way, and the hospital offers both full-time and part-time hours depending on need.
Working pattern: 07:45 to 16:15, 09:00 to 17:30, or 11:30 to 20:00.
PDSA has provided veterinary care for pets whose owners are facing financial hardship for over a century. The organisation is expanding its reach and describes its Southampton hospital as a highly collaborative and effective environment, with opportunities for teamwork, case discussion and shared learning.
The Pet Hospitals are modern and well equipped, with separate dog and cat kennelling facilities, in-house radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, piped gases and extensive orthopaedic equipment.
