Veterinary Nurse Team Leader

About the Role

This is your opportunity to step into a leadership position with a respected charity that has supported pets and their owners for over a century. As Veterinary Nurse Team Leader at PDSA Huyton, you'll lead part of the nursing team while supporting the Head Nurse, overseeing Veterinary Nurses and Care Assistants across theatre, inpatient care, and consultations. The role is full-time, 37.5 hours per week, based at PDSA's fast-paced out-of-hours site in Liverpool.

You'll be the supportive, approachable leader who coaches others, sets clinical standards, and ensures smooth daily workflows. You'll also champion PDSA's Pet Wellbeing services, embedding prevention and proactive healthcare into the team's practice, and step in to deputise for the Head Nurse when needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead part of the nursing team to deliver high-quality, compassionate patient care
• Oversee Veterinary Nurses and Care Assistants working across theatre, inpatient care, and consultations
• Ensure smooth day-to-day workflow and consistently high clinical standards
• Coach team members, give clear feedback, and model clinical excellence
• Embed Pet Wellbeing services and champion preventive and proactive healthcare approaches
• Deputise for the Head Nurse when required
• Contribute to open case discussion and shared learning culture

Requirements

• Strong track record of clinical performance and excellent client care
• Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) qualification and current RCVS registration
• Collaborative, can-do approach with genuine commitment to teamwork
• Confidence working in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment
• Passion for supporting people and pets in the local community
• Leadership experience or demonstrable ability to support and coach others
