About the Role
Join PDSA in Margate as a Veterinary Surgeon and step into a role built around varied clinical work, with a strong mix of consultations and surgery. You will gain hands-on experience across routine and complex cases, supported by the structured Veterinary Surgeon Skills Development Framework.
The caseload includes soft tissue surgery, orthopaedics, dentistry, and emergency and complex surgical case management. As you progress, your skills are formally reviewed each year, creating a clear route for clinical development and salary progression.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out a mix of consultations and surgery across a diverse small animal caseload.
- Undertake soft tissue procedures, including pyometras, cystotomies, enterotomies, enucleations and caesarean sections.
- Provide orthopaedic care, including cruciate repairs, FHNE, hip reductions and fracture management.
- Handle dentistry cases, from routine extractions through to major surgical extractions.
- Manage emergency and complex surgical cases, with exposure to advanced soft tissue, orthopaedic, ophthalmic and reconstructive work.
- Work collaboratively within a highly joined-up hospital team, contributing to case discussion and shared learning.
Requirements
- MRCVS registration.
- Experience delivering high-quality patient and client care.
- A pragmatic, welfare-focused approach to clinical decision-making.
- Confidence working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Computer literacy and comfort using clinical systems.
- Ideally 12 months' UK small animal practice experience.
