About the Role
This Veterinary Surgeon position at PDSA offers a varied caseload with a strong surgical focus, alongside consultations and day to day clinical work. You will be supported to build experience across routine and complex cases, with formal yearly reviews as you progress through the Veterinary Surgeon Skills Development Framework.
The role includes work in soft tissue surgery, orthopaedics, dentistry and emergency and complex surgical case management. It is a full time, permanent post working 37.5 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out a mix of consultations and surgery across a varied caseload.
- Undertake soft tissue procedures, including pyometras, cystotomies, enterotomies, enucleations and caesarean sections.
- Perform orthopaedic procedures such as cruciate repairs, FHNE, hip reductions and fracture management.
- Deliver dentistry, from routine extractions through to major surgical extractions.
- Manage emergency and complex surgical cases.
- Develop advanced skills in soft tissue surgery, orthopaedics, ophthalmic surgery and complex reconstructive procedures.
Requirements
- MRCVS registration.
- Experience delivering high-quality patient and client care.
- A pragmatic, welfare-focused approach to clinical decision making.
- Confidence working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Computer literacy and comfort using clinical systems.
- Ideally 12 months of UK small animal practice experience.
