Shared rota across 6 farm vets; OOH work paid at competitive rates in addition to base salary
You’ll join Priory Vets’ farm division as a full-time veterinary surgeon, working across a diverse caseload that spans dairy, beef, sheep, equine, smallholder enterprises, and TB testing. Based in Cardigan and Lampeter in rural Ceredigion, this role offers the variety and community connection that draws vets to farm practice, backed by the infrastructure and support of a well-established practice.
Out-of-hours duties are shared across the team of 6 farm vets, ensuring you’re never isolated—there’s always a colleague at the end of the phone. OOH work is paid separately at a competitive rate, recognising the commitment it requires. You’ll be part of a supportive group that includes 2 veterinary technicians and a strong support team, all working to high clinical standards with access to the latest technology.
Priory Vets is a well-established mixed animal practice with over a century of service to the local farming, breeding, and pet-owning communities across Ceredigion. The practice operates multiple surgeries in Cardigan, Preseli, and Aberaeron, with large animal and equine vets working in the field and small animal teams based in the surgeries. The farm and equine department combines traditional values with modern veterinary practice, supported by up-to-date technology and a dedicated out-of-hours emergency service.
The practice is part of IVC Evidensia, a global network of over 2,500 clinics and hospitals across 20 countries with around 41,000 employees. This affiliation brings access to world-class training, professional development opportunities, and the resources of an international veterinary organisation while maintaining the local identity and community focus that defines Priory Vets.
