Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)

About the Role

Riversmeet Veterinary Centre is seeking a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join its close-knit team on a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover contract. This is a full-time, fixed-term position (40 hours per week) based in Tamworth, Staffordshire, with excellent access to Birmingham (just 15 minutes away) and countryside surroundings.

You’ll work with a supportive clinical team of 9 veterinary surgeons delivering high-quality small animal care across two sites in Tamworth and Atherstone. The practice offers a genuinely varied caseload including orthopaedics, laparoscopic and soft tissue surgery, ophthalmology, cardiology, dermatology, arthritis and cancer management. With in-house ophthalmology referral services and modern equipment including digital X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, slit lamps and tonometers, no two days are ever the same.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent inpatient and surgical nursing care across both practice sites
• Support the veterinary team during consultations, diagnostic procedures and theatre work
• Monitor anaesthesia and provide comprehensive perioperative patient care
• Maintain accurate patient and clinical records in line with RCVS guidelines
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients throughout their care journey
• Contribute to clinical standards, quality improvement initiatives and a positive team environment
• Participate in CPD opportunities and professional development
• Support the development of the practice’s growing mid-tier referral service

Requirements

• Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) status with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (or eligible to register)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a genuine team-focused approach
• Experience or enthusiasm across consultations, theatre and inpatient nursing
• Commitment to high clinical standards and exceptional client care
• Passion for continuous learning and professional development
