The RSPCA Birmingham Animal Centre is seeking a compassionate Animal Care Assistant to join its dedicated team at Frankley Green, Birmingham. This permanent position offers 35 hours per week on a four-week rolling rota, which includes two weekends out of every four. Working across 72 acres of countryside, you will care for animals housed in state-of-the-art facilities, including capacity for 160 cats, 60 dogs, rabbits and other small animals.
Your day begins with cleaning accommodation, feeding and watering animals, followed by structured exercise routines. Though physically demanding, this role is deeply rewarding, knowing you directly improve the comfort and wellbeing of rescued animals. You will monitor behaviour and health, administer veterinary treatments, support behaviour modification programmes, and ultimately help match animals with their forever homes. Post-adoption support and advice to new owners is also part of the role.
