About the Role
This is a full-time position averaging 38 hours per week across 4 days, with shifts between 7:30am and 7:00pm (including occasional twilight shifts until midnight), plus a 1-in-6 weekend rota. You'll be joining a large, friendly, and highly skilled clinical team at a purpose-built, state-of-the-art hospital that combines first opinion and referral services in one exceptional environment.
You'll work collaboratively across a diverse and complex caseload, gaining hands-on experience with advanced procedures and specialist-led practice. This is a genuinely varied roleāfrom anaesthesia and theatre support to diagnostics and imagingāwhere you'll develop your clinical autonomy while working alongside experienced colleagues who actively mentor and support your growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care across varied and complex small animal cases
- Support surgical procedures, including anaesthesia monitoring and theatre nursing
- Assist with advanced diagnostics and imaging (X-ray, ultrasound, CT, MRI, ECG, blood pressure monitoring, in-house laboratory diagnostics)
- Provide excellent inpatient care and support patient recovery
- Perform Schedule 3 procedures under veterinary direction to develop your clinical autonomy
- Contribute to stock control, equipment maintenance, and team workflows to support smooth hospital operations
Requirements
- Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
- At least one year of post-registration experience in clinical practice
- Confidence working independently with a strong foundation in nursing protocols
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues and clients
- A proactive approach to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement
