About the Role

Pride Veterinary Referrals at Scarsdale Vets is seeking a dedicated RVN to join a dynamic nursing team in a modern, fully equipped referral facility. This varied role splits your time between theatre, anaesthesia, and inpatient ward care, offering unparalleled clinical development opportunities. You’ll work with newly qualified and primary care nurses who are eager to expand their expertise, supported by experienced colleagues and leading specialists.

The position operates a flexible rota typically between 8am and 7pm (including some twilight shifts), averaging 38 hours over 4 days, plus a one-in-six weekend commitment (7:45am–6pm) and occasional bank holiday cover. Night on-call duties are part of the role, with full details discussed at interview.

Key Responsibilities

  • Theatre support: Work closely with the primary care team on advanced surgical procedures including BOAS, orthopaedics, and laparoscopy, developing hands-on experience in specialist anaesthesia
  • Schedule 3 training: Receive training to carry out Schedule 3 procedures, expanding your clinical scope
  • Ward nursing: Provide gold-standard inpatient care to first opinion and referral patients, including urinary catheter care, feeding tube management, CRIs, physiotherapy, and CPR
  • Patient assessment and monitoring: Support the multidisciplinary team in delivering exceptional care standards
  • Continuing professional development: Engage with learning pathways to build expertise in a varied caseload

Requirements

  • Current RCVS registration as a Registered Veterinary Nurse
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to learning and professional development
  • Ideal for newly qualified RVNs or primary care nurses seeking to expand their skills in a referral setting
  • Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and on-call duties
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills in a fast-paced environment

Pride Veterinary Referrals, the referral arm of Scarsdale Vets and part of IVC Evidensia, operates from a state-of-the-art facility featuring 13 consultation rooms, 7 hospital wards, 5 operating theatres, advanced imaging (CT, MRI, digital X-ray), 3 ultrasound rooms, endoscopy suite, hydrotherapy pool, treadmills, and dedicated chemotherapy and radioiodine treatment rooms. The large, experienced multidisciplinary team prioritises clinical excellence while maintaining a friendly, supportive culture.
