About the Role
This is a full time Farm Practice Manager position at Shepton Veterinary Group, supporting a dedicated farm veterinary team at a pivotal point in the practice's development. You'll work closely with the Directors, veterinary team and farm office staff to keep day to day operations running smoothly, while also helping shape strategic projects as the practice prepares for its move into a brand new veterinary hospital next year.
The role will suit an experienced manager who enjoys variety, problem solving and making a genuine impact. Based in Shepton Mallet, you'll be part of a progressive, independently owned practice with ambitious plans for growth and a strong focus on collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the Directors on operational and strategic projects, including TB tenders, carbon footprinting and social value initiatives.
- Support the smooth running of the farm office, including rota planning, holiday coordination and development planning.
- Assist with holiday approvals, CPD tracking, compliance and audit requests.
- Maintain standards across the practice through regulatory compliance and quality assurance.
- Lead recruitment activity, from job descriptions and advertising through to interviews, offers and onboarding.
- Help develop, review and embed policies, procedures and best practice ways of working.
- Produce management reports, monitor KPIs and support insight led decision making.
- Provide day to day leadership and support to the farm office team.
- Encourage open communication and collaboration across departments.
- Facilitate internal meetings that keep the team connected and moving forward.
- Explore opportunities to use technology and AI to make workflows more effective.

- Experience within the veterinary, agricultural or healthcare sectors is advantageous, but not essential.
