This part-time role offers 30 hours per week (Monday to Thursday) with a mix of early and late shifts, plus participation in a 1:4 Saturday morning rota—ideal for candidates seeking genuine work-life balance without compromising career progression.

You’ll be working alongside Clinical Directors, Veterinary Surgeons, and fellow RVNs and SVNs in a purpose-built facility featuring dental and imaging suites, separate cat and dog areas, isolation facilities, and dedicated nurse spaces. The practice occasionally requires support at the sister Yeovil site, but your primary base is Sherborne’s modern, well-equipped location.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care across small animal medicine and surgery
  • Support clinical procedures in the dental, imaging, and laboratory facilities
  • Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to maintain clinical standards
  • Contribute to patient care and client communication throughout the patient journey
  • Participate in the 1:4 Saturday morning rota
  • Engage in continuous professional development and quality improvement initiatives

Requirements

  • Current RVN registration with the RCVS
  • Strong team ethic and commitment to excellent patient and client care
  • Genuine interest in professional development and special interests (including certificate study)
  • Ability to work flexibly across morning and afternoon shifts

Benefits

  • Salary: Up to £32,000 pa (pro rata for part-time hours), depending on experience
  • Leave: 6.6 weeks annual leave including bank holidays, with increasing allowance based on length of service
  • Wellbeing: Enhanced family-friendly policies (maternity, paternity, adoption, shared parental, and surrogacy pay); Private Medical Insurance; Cycle to Work scheme; discounted gym membership; non-accidental injury support
  • Professional Development: £550 CPD allowance with 24 hours paid pro rata; access to IVC Evidensia Academy; Vetlexicon online resource; research funding opportunities; Infection Prevention and Control and Quality Improvement Programmes
  • Professional Support: VDS cover and RCVS fees paid
  • Additional Perks: Pawsome Benefits reward gateway (discounts and cashback); pension (5% employee/3% employer); discounted staff pet care
