About the Role
The Vetcare Centres in Guernsey is seeking a clinically excellent and people-focused Clinical Director to lead their veterinary teams across two locations. You'll balance hands-on clinical work with mentorship, operational leadership, and strategic input—building a culture of clarity, care, and clinical excellence across the practice. This is a flexible role where you can work a 4-day week or 5 shorter days, with a manageable 1:5 OOH rota covering weeknights, weekends, and Saturday morning consults (9 am–12:30 pm).
Based on the idyllic island of Guernsey, you'll be central to an established mixed practice that's been delivering exceptional veterinary care to the community since 1981. While the caseload is primarily small animal work (95%), there's genuine scope to expand farm animal and equine services if that interests you. The practice also partners with the local GSPCA and flies vets to neighbouring Alderney weekly, offering rewarding involvement with wildlife including puffins and seals. The practice is currently expanding its facilities and planning to incorporate endoscopy, laparoscopy, and CT imaging within the next 12 months.
You'll join a warm, collaborative team that genuinely enjoys working together. Daily morning rounds catch up on cases and align plans; monthly vet and nurse meetings share knowledge and reflect on cases as a team. Your ideas and input are truly valued, and the practice actively encourages you to be part of building systems and culture.

About the Practice
Established in 1981, The Vetcare Centres has delivered care to tens of thousands of pets across Guernsey and neighbouring islands. The practice operates two clinics (Les Eturs and Northside) and is committed to providing holistic, high-quality healthcare with a team-first culture built on ownership, trust, and continuous support.
The clinical team comprises four experienced vets: JP, a GP with special interest in cardiology; Kamila, who particularly enjoys ophthalmology; Kasia, who graduated from the University of Warmia and Mazury in Poland; and Martyna, a recent graduate (2024) interested in exotics and wildlife conservation. The nursing team includes two RVNs, three SVNs, and four VCAs, supported by an excellent reception team. The practice is a nurse training practice committed to developing talent at all levels.
Guernsey itself is renowned for its relaxed, peaceful lifestyle and breathtaking natural beauty. The island offers a vibrant community spirit, excellent dining and leisure opportunities, a mild climate, and stunning beaches ideal for outdoor enthusiasts. It's a safe, family-friendly environment with quick access to Jersey, France, and the UK via direct flights to London Gatwick, Southampton, and Manchester. The team actively enjoys island life together through quarterly socials (summer boat trips with BBQ, fishing), and members pursue hobbies including horse riding, pottery, self-defence, and rock climbing.
