You'll be based primarily at Towcester Equine Vets, though you'll also work at the sister clinic at Onley Grounds Equestrian Centre in Warwickshire. Your weekly duties will span orthopaedic investigations, poor performance diagnostics, routine healthcare, and emergency work. The practice operates a manageable on-call rota: one night per week plus one weekend in four as part of an on-call team, though more flexible arrangements can be negotiated. You'll work alongside 10 experienced clinicians, including an in-house surgeon and two interns, in a collaborative environment where support is genuinely offered across clinical and support staff.
Towcester Equine Vets is part of a well-established independent mixed practice based in the Northamptonshire countryside. The practice operates two sites: the main facility at Towcester with full hospitalisation, reproductive services (including indoor stallion collection facility), and a fully equipped sister clinic at Onley Grounds Equestrian Centre, Warwickshire.
The practice benefits from purpose-built treatment rooms, a surgical theatre, in-house laboratory, endoscopy and gastroscopy equipment, and shockwave and laser capabilities. Clinical notes, diaries, and billing are managed via the Eclipse system, enabling vets to access information remotely during ambulatory calls. The team of experienced clinicians includes an in-house surgeon and visiting diplomats, creating an environment of continuing learning and collaboration.
