About the Role
This is a Full Time, Permanent Equine RVN position at Clyde Vet Group Equine Hospital in Lanark. You'll be supporting a varied equine caseload, working across patient care, diagnostics, theatre support and day-to-day hospital duties in a supportive and collaborative environment.
The hospital is seeking a confident team player with a genuine interest in equine nursing. You'll work alongside an experienced veterinary team, care for a broad range of equine patients, and take part in out-of-hours work when required.
Health and safety, clinical standards and exceptional patient care are central to the role, including lone-working procedures where needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care for inpatients and outpatients, including sick and injured horses.
- Administer medication and monitor recovery and pain levels.
- Prepare patients for procedures and surgery.
- Assist with veterinary examinations, investigations and treatments.
- Support client education on ongoing care, rehabilitation and preventative health.
- Carry out blood sampling, intravenous catheter placement, wound management and bandaging.
- Support diagnostic imaging, including radiography, ultrasonography and scintigraphy.
- Perform laboratory work such as haematology, biochemistry, urinalysis, faecal analysis and cytology.
- Prepare theatre and surgical equipment, sterilise instruments and assist with anaesthesia monitoring.
- Provide daily feeding, grooming and stable management.
- Maintain hygiene, biosecurity, cleanliness and safety across clinical and stable areas.
- Handle a wide range of equine patients, including youngstock, stallions and competition horses.
- Follow hospital health and safety protocols, including lone-working procedures where required.
Requirements
- Registered Veterinary Nurse status with a recognised veterinary nursing qualification.
- Current or previous equine nursing experience is preferred.
- Student Veterinary Nurse approaching qualification may be considered.
- Confidence providing emergency and critical care support.
- Ability to handle a broad range of equine patients.
- Reliable, organised and self-motivated.
- Enjoys working as part of a supportive team.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Able to relocate to the area or live within approximately 30 minutes of Lanark.
- Willing to participate in out-of-hours work when required.
