About the Role

This Senior Veterinary Surgeon position is suited to an experienced vet who is happiest in theatre and wants the chance to develop a varied surgical caseload. The role offers up to £65,000 FTE, a flexible 3 or 4 day week, 1 in 4 Saturdays, no OOH and 15 minute consultations.

You will be joining Vets for Pets Bedford Interchange, where the caseload includes everyday first opinion medicine and surgery alongside rabbits, exotics and more advanced procedures. The practice is looking for someone with strong surgical confidence who can handle routine surgery and medical cases while continuing to build surgical skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver routine surgery and medical consultations in a first opinion small animal setting.
• Handle a varied surgical caseload, including work supported by laparoscopic surgery facilities.
• Work collaboratively with the nursing team and visiting clinicians.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of the practice's surgical offering.
• Provide care across consultations scheduled at 15 minutes each.

Requirements

• Experienced veterinary surgeon.
• Strong surgical experience.
• Surgical confidence is essential.
• Ability to work collaboratively.
• Interest in developing towards a certificate or expanding surgical skills further.

About the Practice

Vets for Pets Bedford Interchange is an RCVS-accredited practice with Silver Cat Friendly and Rabbit Friendly status. It sees everything from everyday first opinion medicine and surgery to rabbits, exotics and more advanced procedures.

The team includes seven experienced nurses with more than 100 years of combined nursing experience. The practice also works alongside visiting clinicians providing ophthalmology, orthopaedic and advanced soft tissue surgery, plus ultrasonography. It has recently introduced laparoscopic spays and holds Outstanding RCVS Practice Standards Awards for Customer Service and Sustainability, alongside Silver Investors in the Environment accreditation.
