Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This part-time Veterinary Surgeon opportunity at Derby Kingsway offers 15 to 30 hours per week, with flexibility for full or part days and an ideal preference for Fridays. The rota includes a shared weekend pattern of 1 in 3 Saturdays, plus some sole charge, but no OOH.

You will be joining a small animal practice with a friendly, supportive feel. The team combines modern clinical standards with a collaborative working environment, and the role calls for good general small animal surgical and medical skills, along with confidence in working cases up.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide general small animal medical and surgical care.
• Work up cases as part of day-to-day clinical work.
• Contribute to client and animal care within a supportive practice team.
• Cover some sole charge sessions as part of the rota.
• Take part in the shared weekend rota of 1 in 3 Saturdays.

Requirements

• Good general small animal surgical skills.
• Good general small animal medical skills.
• Ability to work cases through from initial presentation.
• Willingness to work part-time hours of 15 to 30 per week.
• Flexibility to work full or part days, ideally including a Friday.

About the Practice

Derby Kingsway Companion Care is a successful small animal practice close to the A38, with good transport links to Nottingham, Burton and the Peak District. The surgery has been designed to industry leading standards and includes state of the art equipment and in-house laboratory facilities.

The practice is a silver standard ICC Cat Friendly Clinic and is also rabbit friendly. It is led by Partner Emma Gilbert, an experienced Bristol graduate, and supported by a team of 3 other vets, 5 nurses, 3 client care advisors and a practice administrator.
