About the Role

This Veterinary Surgeon role is with Ipswich Martlesham Vets4Pets, a warm and friendly team that was voted Pet Plan Practice of the Year 2021. The role can suit full-time or part-time hours, with a maximum four-day week for full-time and part-time hours and days to be discussed.

Weekend cover includes 1 in 3 Saturdays, with 2 weekdays off when you work Saturday. There are no out of hours, and there is flexibility to do more weekends and fewer weekdays if that suits the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out a varied Veterinary Surgeon role across medical and surgical cases.
• Work alongside the clinical team, which includes 5 vets, 5 RVNs, 1 student nurse, 1 VCA and non-clinical staff.
• Take part in routine and more advanced procedures, including ex-laps, splenectomies, gastrotomies, enterectomies, BOAS, TTA and TECA.
• Contribute to the practice's in-house diagnostic approach and case discussions.
• Support excellent patient and client care in a busy small animal practice.

Requirements

• You should be a dynamic and proactive Veterinary Surgeon.
• Strong surgical and medical skills are required.
• You should be a strong team player who enjoys working alongside colleagues.
• Ideally, you will have at least 2 to 3 years' experience.
• You should be keen to get involved in the full range of clinical work and learn from the team.

About the Practice

Ipswich Martlesham Vets4Pets is based inside a busy Pets at Home store on Beardmore Retail Park in Martlesham. The practice says it benefits from a good variety of cases and a loyal client base thanks to its location.

The surgery is purpose built to industry leading standards and includes digital x-rays, ultrasound, endoscope, in-house lab, an operating theatre, separate cat and dog wards and an exotics ward. The team also works closely with a visiting internal medicine specialist, and the practice carries out in-house diagnostic work ups as well as skilled orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery.
