Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This small animal surgery in Romford is looking for an additional Veterinary Surgeon to join an established team of 13 vets, 12 RVNs, 10 Student Nurses and 10 Receptionists. The role offers a varied caseload, occasional sole charge, and the chance to work in a practice with clear opportunities for progression.

The location brings practical lifestyle appeal too, with free on-site parking, central London 25 minutes away, the Essex countryside around 20 minutes away, and easy access to City and Southend Airport. Full-time hours are split across 4 weekdays, with a weekend rota of 1 in 6 full weekends and 1 in 6 Saturdays only. Part-time hours are also being considered for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

• Work across a busy small animal caseload in an established Romford surgery.
• Carry out routine surgical procedures and contribute strong diagnostic and medical decision making.
• Manage occasional sole charge confidently.
• Provide consult room care and maintain a high standard of client communication and customer service.
• Work alongside a team with interests ranging from medicine through to soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery.

Requirements

• At least 3 years' experience.
• Existing UK experience.
• Confidence with occasional sole charge.
• Competence in routine surgical procedures.
• Good diagnostic and medical skills.
• Significant internal medicine experience.
• Excellent people skills and a flexible approach.

This is a Vets for Pets practice in Romford, Essex, operating as a busy small animal surgery. The team includes 13 vets, 12 RVNs, 10 Student Nurses and 10 Receptionists, with individual interests spanning medicine, soft tissue surgery and orthopaedics.
