Weekend Veterinary Receptionist

About the Role

This is a weekend-only reception position at Vets for Pets' Cambridge Bar Hill practice, working 15 hours across Saturday and Sunday (Saturday 9am to 5pm, Sunday 10am to 4pm). You'll be the friendly, welcoming face greeting clients and their pets, managing the smooth flow of the practice through excellent customer service, administrative efficiency, and genuine care for both animals and their owners.

The Cambridge Bar Hill practice operates alongside the Beehive location, and you may occasionally be required to provide cover there. Your ability to build strong relationships with clients, their pets, and the clinical team will be central to your success in creating that warm, professional atmosphere the practice values.

Key Responsibilities

• Answer phone queries and book appointments using the online booking system
• Greet clients and their pets warmly, offering guidance and support throughout their visit
• Register new clients and manage client records
• Process payments confidently and discuss financial matters with clients
• Complete insurance claim forms on behalf of clients
• Dispense medications as required
• Support the clinical team with referrals, insurance claims, and finance applications
• Respond to client queries via phone, in person, email, and online messaging
• Coordinate day-to-day practice routines and ensure smooth operations

Requirements

• Previous receptionist or administration experience is essential
• Veterinary experience is desirable but not required
• Excellent communication skills and strong empathy with clients
• Resilient and able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Exceptional customer service skills and enthusiasm for your role
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database management systems
• Strong computer literacy and administrative skills
• Confidence discussing finances with clients
• Genuine passion for animals and providing excellent client care
