Animal Care Assistant

About the Role

This part-time Animal Care Assistant position is based within an emergency clinic at Cathcart & Winn Vets in Farnham. You'll support the clinical team in providing a calm, comfortable and stress-free environment for in-patients while working through busy emergency shifts.

The rota is fixed and specific, with shifts every Monday to Thursday from 06:00 to 09:00, every other Saturday from 18:00 to 00:00, plus a fair share of bank holidays. The role is offered at £14.05 per hour, alongside a benefits package that includes leave, CPD support and staff pet care discounts.

Key Responsibilities

• Work under the guidance of Vet Nurses and Vet Surgeons.
• Handle patients for basic procedures and help with diagnostic tests.
• Assist with setting up and clearing down theatres for surgical procedures.
• Make sure in-patients' basic husbandry needs are attended to.
• Support the clinical team in a busy emergency clinic environment.

Requirements

• Ability to work the stated rota, including early weekday shifts, alternate Saturdays and bank holidays.
• Comfort working alongside Vet Nurses and Vet Surgeons in an emergency setting.
• Willingness to support patient handling, basic procedures and theatre turnaround.
• Ability to attend to basic in-patient husbandry needs.
