Receptionist

About the Role

This is a part-time receptionist position at Vets Now Eastbourne, one of the UK’s leading 24/7 emergency pet care providers. You’ll be the first friendly face or voice clients meet during their most stressful moments, welcoming them in-person or answering their urgent calls with calm professionalism and genuine compassion.

The role offers flexible scheduling across evening and weekend shifts: Week 1 you’ll work Monday and Friday evenings (19:00–23:00), and Week 2 shifts include Monday evening (19:00–23:00) plus a Sunday day shift (09:00–19:30), with a fair share of bank holidays included.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet all clients warmly and professionally, whether attending in person or calling with emergencies
• Answer phones promptly and book emergency appointments, managing client queries with empathy and clarity
• Process financial transactions accurately and efficiently
• Handle administrative duties to keep the clinic running smoothly, including patient records and documentation
• Provide updates to the veterinary team about patients en route or clients requiring additional support
• Act as the essential bridge between anxious clients and veterinary professionals during critical moments

Requirements

• Strong communication skills—both written and verbal
• Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
• Customer service experience (desirable but not essential)
• Basic computer literacy and administrative competency
• Flexibility to work the outlined shift pattern, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
