Receptionist - Weekend

About the Role

This is a weekend-focused receptionist position at Vets Now Barnet, one of the UK's largest out-of-hours emergency providers. You'll be the first point of contact for clients during stressful situations, greeting them warmly, answering calls, and booking appointments when their pets need help most. The role combines genuine client care with smooth administrative operations, ensuring the clinic runs efficiently when it matters.

Working a rotating weekend pattern (you'll have one week completely off, then two weeks of Saturday and Sunday 15:00-22:00, then one week of Sunday only 15:00-22:00), this gives you predictable weekend work without the midweek commitment.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the initial point of contact for emergency clients, both in person and via phone
• Greet all visitors, answer calls promptly, and manage appointment bookings
• Process financial transactions accurately and professionally
• Handle administrative duties to keep the clinic running smoothly
• Keep veterinary staff informed about patients en route and clients needing assistance
• Provide friendly, reassuring support to clients during emergency situations
• Act as a liaison between clients and the veterinary team

Requirements

• Strong communication skills and a calm, empathetic manner
• Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced emergency environment
• Reliable and professional with excellent customer service instincts
• Basic administrative competence and attention to detail
