Ready to be the calm, confident voice in emergency pet care? Join Vets Now Swansea as a part-time receptionist and make a real difference when pets need help most.

🕐 Schedule & Rota

Evening and overnight shifts only (18:00–00:00). Rota pattern across 4 weeks: Week 1: Tuesday, Wednesday, Sunday; Week 2: Tuesday; Week 3: Thursday, Saturday; Week 4: Tuesday. Plus fair share of bank holidays. This is a dedicated out-of-hours emergency reception role.

About the Role

As a part-time receptionist at Vets Now Swansea, you’ll be the first point of contact for pet owners during veterinary emergencies. Working evening and overnight shifts (18:00–00:00), you’ll be at the heart of an emergency and critical care service that serves over 1,700 veterinary practices across the UK. The rota is split across four weeks with a mix of shifts—some weeks lighter than others—giving you genuine work-life balance whilst working within an established emergency hospital.

You’ll join a highly skilled emergency team in a 24/7 setting where compassion and efficiency matter equally. This is not a corporate job-board role; it’s a real position within Vets Now’s dedicated Swansea ECC clinic, where your communication skills and calm presence directly support both anxious clients and the clinical team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Answer emergency calls and greet clients arriving at the clinic, managing the initial contact experience during stressful situations
  • Process financial transactions accurately and efficiently
  • Relay critical patient and client information to the veterinary team, including updates on animals en route to the clinic
  • Perform administrative duties to support the smooth running of the clinic
  • Support the team during high-pressure emergency scenarios

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Reliable and flexible approach to shift work (evenings and overnight hours)
  • Ability to handle customer interactions with empathy and professionalism
  • Competence with administrative and financial tasks

Benefits

  • Hourly rate: £12.60 per hour
  • 7 weeks pro-rata annual leave
  • Your birthday as a paid day off
  • Cash Health Plan provided by Simply Health
  • Vets Now For You rewards gateway with discounts and cashback from 100+ retailers
  • £780 pro-rata CPD allowance
  • 10 hours paid CPD time annually (pro-rata)
  • Family-friendly policies including sick pay, maternity, paternity, and adoption support
  • Pension contributions: 5% employee / 3% employer
  • Up to 50% discounted staff pet care
  • Paid volunteering days
  • Death in service benefit of two times annual salary
  • Flexible shift opportunities—apply for as few or as many shifts as suits your lifestyle
