Weekend Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

This weekend Veterinary Nurse role is based in Vets Now's Kilmarnock clinic and is built around emergency and critical care work. The rota includes a mix of daytime and overnight shifts across a four week pattern, with a fair share of bank holidays.

You will be joining a team focused on emergency pet care, with nursing work covering triage, surgery, anaesthesia and in-patient care. The role offers a practical way to deepen ECC knowledge while fitting around other commitments or adding a second income.

Shift options include Week 1: Saturday 12:00 to 21:00 or 21:00 to 09:00, and Sunday 10:00 to 20:00. Week 2: Saturday 21:00 to 09:00 and Sunday 19:30 to 09:00. Week 3: Saturday 12:00 to 21:00 or 21:00 to 09:00. Week 4 is off.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide first aid advice over the phone and in clinic.
• Carry out critical care monitoring, including tracking major body systems and changes in in-patient trends.
• Support physiotherapy, pain assessment, wound care and dressing care.
• Perform basic diagnostic procedures in a sole charge capacity.
• Contribute to a team delivering triage, surgery, anaesthesia and in-patient care across the weekend rota.

Requirements

• RCVS registered for a minimum of six months.
• Experience with an ECC caseload is advantageous.
• A strong motivation to maintain clinic standards.
• A genuine interest in caring for clients and their pets.
