Weekend Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

This weekend Veterinary Nurse role is based in Macclesfield and sits within a 12 month fixed term contract starting in December 2026. The rota is 1 in 4 weekends, with Saturday shifts from 12:00 to 19:00 and Sunday shifts from 08:00 to 19:00, plus a fair share of bank holidays.

The role is geared towards ECC work, so it is well suited to someone keen to build emergency and critical care knowledge while keeping a weekend pattern. It is positioned as a chance to balance family commitments or take on a second income while working in a fast-paced emergency setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide first aid advice over the phone and in clinic.
• Support critical care, including monitoring major body systems and tracking changes in in-patient trends.
• Carry out physiotherapy, pain assessment, wound care, and dressing care.
• Perform basic diagnostic procedures in a sole charge capacity.
• Support triage, surgery, anaesthesia, and in-patient care as part of the nursing team.

Requirements

• RCVS registration for at least six months.
• Interest in maintaining high clinic standards.
• Passion for caring for clients and their pets.
• ECC caseload experience is advantageous.
