You’ll work a rotating shift pattern across nights, weekends, and Sunday cover—essential OOH work, but shared fairly across the team with built-in flexibility if life circumstances change.

The nursing team sits at the core of clinical treatment here. You’ll move fluidly between triage and first aid, critical care monitoring, diagnostics, and in-patient management. This is hands-on, meaningful work where your assessment skills and clinical judgment directly impact outcomes for acutely unwell pets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform telephone triage and provide first aid advice to callers; deliver in-clinic first aid as required
  • Manage critical care cases including monitoring major body systems, tracking in-patient trends, identifying clinical changes quickly, and undertaking physiotherapy and pain assessment
  • Deliver wound and dressing care with confidence
  • Perform basic diagnostic procedures, including sole charge capability where appropriate
  • Contribute to maintaining high clinical standards across the clinic

Requirements

  • RCVS registered for a minimum of six months at point of application
  • Demonstrated motivation to uphold clinical standards
  • Genuine passion for animal welfare and client care
  • Experience with emergency and critical care caseloads is advantageous (but not essential)

Benefits

  • Salary & Pension: Up to £35,000 DOE; UK Standard Pension (5% employee / 3% employer contribution)
  • Learning & Development: £1,125 annual CPD allowance plus 20 paid CPD hours; RCVS fees covered; ECC certificate support
  • Leave: 7 weeks annual leave (pro rata); your birthday as a paid day off
  • Health & Wellbeing: Private medical insurance; enhanced sick pay; enhanced maternity pay
