Registered Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

Westwood Vets is seeking an enthusiastic Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their well-established team of eight nurses across two picturesque locations in Boston Spa and Garforth, just 15 minutes apart. This full-time position offers a dynamic working environment with real variety, as the team rotates between both sites.

This daytime role runs 38 hours per week Monday to Friday (8:00am-6:00pm or 8:30am-6:30pm with a one-hour lunch break), plus a 1-in-4 Saturday rota (8:30am-4:30pm). As a nurse training practice, you'll work alongside student nurses at each site in a collaborative, supportive learning environment. The clinics are well-equipped with in-house laboratory, X-ray, ultrasound, laparoscopy, and bronchoscopy facilities, enabling a wide range of cases to be managed in-house.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care as an integral member of the clinical team, supporting excellent patient outcomes and client experiences
• Conduct nurse clinics and manage inpatient care across the two practice sites
• Prepare theatre cases and monitor anaesthesia during surgical procedures
• Work collaboratively with experienced veterinary surgeons (including certificate holders) and the wider practice team
• Take responsibility for nursing care of first opinion cases and contribute to clinical standards
• Support the ongoing development of patient care within the practice and mentor student nurses

Requirements

• Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
• Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
• Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
• Good organisational skills and ability to manage workload effectively
• Proactive approach to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement
• Team-orientated, confident, and motivated approach to nursing care
