About the Role

Wood Street Veterinary Hospital is seeking a passionate Registered Veterinary Nurse to join its clinical team on a permanent basis. This role is available as full-time (40 hours per week) or part-time, with flexible rota options to suit your availability. You'll work in a thriving 24-hour RCVS-accredited hospital environment, gaining exposure to a broad range of cases from emergency and critical care through to orthopaedic surgery.

The practice is both ISFM Cat Friendly and Rabbit Friendly Certified, with access to recently refurbished operating theatres, laparoscopy, endoscopy, in-house laboratory facilities, isolation units and separate dog and cat wards. Saturday rotas are approximately 1 in 4 with time off in lieu provided, but there are no night shifts, Sunday or bank holiday working required.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients across first opinion and hospital cases
• Work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team
• Take responsibility for nursing care management and contribute to clinical standards
• Support excellent client experiences and ongoing patient care development
• Contribute to the professional development of patient care within the practice

Requirements

• Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
• Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
• Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
• Good organisational skills and effective workload management
• Proactive approach to learning, reflection and continuous improvement

About the Practice

Wood Street Veterinary Hospital is one of the longest established practices in the South East, founded in 1900. It is one of only a handful of Approved Veterinary Hospitals in the London area and operates as a Small Animal Hospital and centre of excellence. The practice provides emergency services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with staff on premises around the clock to ensure patients always have access to a vet and nurse.

The hospital operates four branch surgeries: Oakwood Veterinary Surgery in Radlett, Holders Hill Veterinary Surgery in Mill Hill, Cockfosters Veterinary Surgery in Cockfosters, and Rosemary Avenue Vet Clinic in Enfield. The practice is a Registered Training Practice for Veterinary Nurses and maintains close links with the RSPCA. An animal ambulance is available to assist clients with transport and to deliver medication and food when required.
