About the Role

You’ll be the first point of contact for clients and their pets at Abington Park Vets, a well-established small animal practice in Northamptonshire. This full-time, 40-hour-per-week role is all about delivering warm customer care, managing the diary smoothly, and keeping things running like clockwork in a busy environment. You’ll work alongside a large, supportive team of 13 vets (many with advanced certificates), 18 registered nurses, and support staff who all pull together to provide excellent care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acting as the primary point of contact between clients and the clinical team, ensuring a positive first impression
  • Meeting, greeting, and welcoming clients and their pets
  • Booking appointments and managing the practice diary efficiently
  • Handling telephone and email enquiries promptly and professionally
  • Processing payments for services and products
  • Managing cash handling and end-of-day banking procedures
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for clients and pets

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A warm, compassionate, and approachable demeanour
  • Ability to multitask and stay organised in a fast-paced setting
  • Strong customer service focus
  • Experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential—enthusiasm and willingness to learn matter most

About the Practice

Abington Park Vets is a well-resourced small animal practice located on Wellingborough Road in Northampton, part of the IVC Evidensia group. The practice treats dogs, cats, small pets, and is both exotic-friendly and rabbit-friendly, reflecting its commitment to diverse small animal care. The team comprises 13 veterinary surgeons (the majority holding advanced certificates), 18 registered veterinary nurses, 4 student veterinary nurses, 4 kennel assistants, and a laboratory technician—a solid foundation for delivering high-quality medicine and mentoring newer team members.
