About the Role
This is a senior leadership position within Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists’ hospital management team. You’ll work closely with the Hospital Director and clinical teams to set clinical direction, drive quality outcomes, and nurture the next generation of specialist vets. It’s a blend of strategic leadership and clinical practice: you’ll spend time in the leadership arena shaping systems and culture, and time in the clinic delivering specialist care. Based in the beautiful Hampshire countryside with easy access to London and the South Coast, you’ll enjoy a genuine work-life balance while leading a centre of excellence known for its warm, inclusive culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Leadership: Lead the clinical team in delivering high-quality, evidence-based care across all hospital specialisms. Develop shared vision, inspire engagement, and foster a collaborative culture of continuous improvement.
- Quality & Governance: Design and implement lean, customer-centred clinical systems. Establish governance controls, conduct audits and risk assessments, and ensure RCVS, GDPR and Health & Safety compliance. Benchmark performance against other referral practices.
- Team Development: Attract and retain skilled associates through effective communication and leadership. Support CPD, student placements, residencies and internship programmes. Build a high-performing culture that is challenging, supportive and developmental.
- Commercial Performance: As a member of the senior leadership team, contribute to annual budgets, financial targets, revenue growth, payroll and cost control. Model empathetic client relationships, clear communication and excellent service standards.
- Strategic Growth: Use metrics and market intelligence to identify clinical positioning, strengths, risks and opportunities. Work with nursing leadership and service heads to define achievable clinical strategy and identify unique service lines for growth and investment.
- Stakeholder Relationships: Build effective relationships with referring vets through clear communication, outcome correspondence, CPD programmes and issue resolution. Collaborate with marketing teams to enhance brand awareness and support business growth.
- Clinical Duties: Continue to practice as a veterinary specialist, maintaining hands-on clinical involvement.
Requirements
- Qualified veterinary surgeon with specialist qualification and significant referral practice experience
- Proven track record of clinical leadership and team management at senior level
- Passion for mentoring and developing other vets
- Strong understanding of clinical governance, quality systems and RCVS compliance
- Experience of managing budgets and commercial performance targets
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Evidence of strategic thinking and ability to identify growth opportunities
