About the Role
Ashleigh Veterinary Centre in Chorlton is seeking an enthusiastic Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their busy, supportive clinical team. This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week over 4 days (Monday to Friday), with shifts between 8:00am and 7:45pm, plus a 1 in 5 weekend rota including Saturday mornings and Sunday shifts.
You'll be an integral part of a forward-thinking practice operating across two sites (Chorlton and Sale) with a dedicated Avian and Exotic referral clinic. The team prides itself on delivering high standards of care in a positive, target-free environment where patient welfare and client relationships take centre stage. With exposure to both small animal and exotic cases, every day brings something different.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care across small animal and exotic caseloads
- Support surgical procedures, including anaesthesia monitoring and theatre nursing
- Manage admissions, inpatient care, and patient recovery
- Run and support nurse consultations, promoting preventative healthcare and client engagement
- Contribute to clinical standards and the ongoing development of patient care within the practice
- Work collaboratively with five veterinary surgeons and a team of ten qualified veterinary nurses
- Assist with pharmacy duties and client communication
Requirements
- Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
- Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
- Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
- Good organisational skills and effective workload management
- Proactive approach to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement
- Team-orientated mindset with confidence and motivation

About the Practice
Ashleigh Veterinary Centre has been serving Manchester since 1963, growing into a well-equipped, larger practice with five veterinary surgeons, ten qualified veterinary nurses, three auxiliary veterinary nurses, and a practice manager. The practice occupies a purpose-built extension and maintains high standards of facilities and equipment for modern treatment and patient comfort. It is an RCVS-approved nurse training centre and has successfully trained many veterinary nurses to qualification level, with several staff holding advanced nursing qualifications.
The practice specialises in small animal medicine and surgery, exotic animal care, and has developed specialist expertise in Canine and Feline Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Exotic Animal Medicine and Surgery.
