This Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon role at an independent hospital is centred around support, clinical freedom and a manageable pace of work. Full time here means a 3.5 day week, with seven weeks out of nine finishing at 1 pm once a week and the remaining two weeks finishing at 5 pm early.
You will be working in a practice that handles most cases in house, including many soft tissue surgeries and orthopaedics. The team also has an active clinical WhatsApp group, regular in house CPD and hands on support from the partners, so there is always someone available for a second opinion or to scrub in with you.
The role suits a surgeon who has perhaps completed Vet GDP and wants to keep learning without losing support. Funding is available for further development, including starting a certificate if that fits your direction.
Bishops Stortford Veterinary Hospital is an independent small animal hospital in Hertfordshire. The practice has been part of the community for over 120 years and achieved RCVS accredited status in 1985.
The team includes 16 vets, 29 RVNs, SVNs and ACAs, plus an admin team, an in house laboratory manager and a qualified Canine Hydrotherapist. The hospital is well equipped with digital x ray, Doppler and high spec ultrasound, a dental suite with dental x ray, flexible video endoscopy, laparoscopy being introduced, an operating microscope and slit lamp, ASIF kit, a full in house lab, laser therapy and hydrotherapy.
