Veterinary Receptionist

About the Role

You’ll be the first point of contact for clients at Cliffe Vets, a well-established mixed practice serving the Lewes community with dedicated small animal, farm, and equine departments. This part-time position splits your week between two locations: Mondays and Tuesdays at Ringmer Surgery, then Thursday afternoon and Friday at Lewes Surgery, with Saturday shifts at Lewes. You’ll need a full driving licence to travel between sites.

Based in the historic market town of Lewes—just 10 miles from vibrant Brighton—you’ll work alongside experienced veterinarians, animal technicians, and a tight-knit support team. Several colleagues are pursuing post-graduate qualifications, creating an environment where professional growth is actively encouraged.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet and interact with clients with a welcoming, professional, and compassionate manner
• Manage appointment bookings and client queries
• Process payments and handle transactions accurately
• Support the practice with general administrative tasks as directed by the Practice Manager, Clinical Director, or Head Nurse
• Maintain high standards of customer service across both Ringmer and Lewes surgeries

Requirements

• Experience in a customer-facing role with strong attention to detail
• Ideally previous experience working in veterinary reception
• Excellent communication skills and professional manner
• Ability to multitask effectively in a busy environment
• A collaborative, team-focused approach with openness to feedback
• Full driving licence (essential for travelling between surgeries)
• Proactive attitude and willingness to support colleagues
