Farm Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This full-time position offers a genuine mix of work that farm vets love: routine and emergency clinical cases, herd and flock health planning, fertility work, and preventative medicine. You'll be building strong, long-term relationships with fabulous farmers across South Wales, working with diverse client bases spanning dairy, beef, and sheep systems from large-scale enterprises to traditional family farms.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver routine and emergency clinical care for livestock across dairy, beef, and sheep systems
• Develop and deliver herd and flock health plans, with strong focus on proactive veterinary input
• Provide fertility work and preventative medicine support
• Engage directly with clients to build long-term relationships and support their operations
• Contribute to a practice that combines practical clinical work with progressive herd health management

Requirements

• Veterinary degree (BVSc, BVetMed, or BVMS) and RCVS registration as a veterinary surgeon
• Genuine passion for farm animal practice and livestock work
• Team player with a positive, proactive attitude
• Strong communication skills and client focus
• Enthusiasm to learn and progress within a supportive environment
• Open to candidates at different career stages

About the Practice

Dyfed Farm Vets is an established, progressive farm-only practice based in St Clears, serving a diverse client base across South Wales. The team comprises 6.5 farm vets and 2 ATT/Vet Technicians, working exclusively with livestock and combining routine clinical work with a strong focus on herd and flock health planning. The practice is part of CVS Group Plc, a major veterinary group committed to supporting professional development and wellbeing.
