About the Role

The Grove Veterinary Orthopaedic Hospital is a leading referral centre in Fakenham, Norfolk, dedicated exclusively to orthopaedic surgery and rehabilitation. This 12-month fixed-term internship offers you the chance to develop a strong foundation in veterinary orthopaedics alongside a highly experienced specialist-led team. You'll work in a culture of mentorship and professional development, gaining hands-on exposure to complex cases, advanced surgical techniques, and patient-centred care in a supportive referral hospital environment.

This role is ideal if you're considering a future residency or advanced clinical practice in orthopaedics. You'll collaborate closely with RCVS and ECVS board-eligible surgeons, nurses, and rehabilitation specialists, participating in diagnostics, surgical procedures, ward rounds, and clinical discussions in a busy, well-resourced setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting with orthopaedic surgeries and procedures under supervision
• Managing pre- and post-operative patient care
• Supporting inpatient case work-ups and clinical assessments
• Participating in ward rounds, clinical discussions, and CPD activities
• Collaborating with nursing and rehabilitation teams
• Maintaining high clinical and animal welfare standards

Requirements

• Veterinary surgeon registered or eligible to register with the RCVS
• Strong interest in orthopaedics and surgical practice
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Proactive, reliable, and compassionate approach to patient care
• Willingness to learn and contribute positively to a referral hospital
