Receptionist

About the Role

This full-time permanent position offers 30 hours per week across five days, including one Saturday morning in four. You'll work various shift patterns, typically 8 hours daily with start times from 8.15am and finishes as late as 7.15pm, though CVS is happy to discuss flexible arrangements with the successful candidate.

Based at Werrington Veterinary Centre in Peterborough, you'll be the welcoming face of a small animal practice that prioritises putting pets and clients first. You'll join a CVS Vets-owned practice, part of one of the UK's leading veterinary groups with a network spanning over 500 practices and 8,000+ devoted professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage incoming calls and schedule appointments efficiently
• Respond to client queries via phone, email and in-person with professionalism
• Greet and register new clients, ensuring a warm welcome
• Process and manage insurance forms accurately
• Dispense medications as required
• Process payments and handle financial transactions accurately
• Provide empathy and emotional support to clients during distressing times while maintaining professionalism
• Utilise the in-house patient management system efficiently
• Liaise with other veterinary practices to address patient needs and queries
• Handle telephone calls regarding debts, belongings and refunds
• Ensure every client feels welcomed and valued throughout their visit

Requirements

• Previous reception experience is essential; veterinary reception experience is a bonus
• Resilience and ability to handle emotional situations with grace
• Strong communication skills paired with genuine empathy
• Outstanding customer service skills and proven experience working with the public
• Positive attitude and excellent teamwork abilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems
• Right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship not available for this role)
